Citing Georgetownʼs proud tradition of seeking out “off the radar,” but “sick” bands, Georgetownʼs Alternative Spring Break organizer Janet Freeman (NHS ʼ15) expressed this was going to be the best year yet for alternative spring break, commonly known as ASB.
“Alternative music is all about connecting with your soul and self-expression and when ASB was founded 20-some years ago, thatʼs exactly what they were trying to capture,” said Freeman. “And Iʼm pretty sure thatʼs what John Carroll was trying to capture when he founded this place.”
“Last year Jack White came and that was dope,” said Mariah Greenfield a board member of ASB (SFS ʼ16), “But this year, weʼre looking for deeper cuts. People youʼve probably never heard of.”
An inside source confirmed that this yearʼs line up for ASB included “Michael and the Gauze Elephants,” “Sad Cabbage,” “Overactive Glands” and the headliner “Affectionate Disposable Toothbrushes.”
This yearʼs venue, the Center for Social Justiceʼs vans, promises to offer ASB-goers an intimate venue with functioning seat belts and cup holders.
The philanthropy chair of the organization issued a statement assuring its participants that all funds raised would go to “chill” causes.
