Hoya of the Week – Amber Crochet

By

The Heckler is honoring Amber as Hoya of the Week because of her selfless commitment to leaving club member and leadership positions vacant so that other Hoyas might have the opportunity to add them to their resume. From GUSA Senate to GIVES, A Capella groups to Club Polo, Amber is working hard to serve her fellow students by not being a part of these, or any, groups or activities on campus and thus freeing up resources for other students. college student

“I’m pretty much just trying to stay out of people’s business.” Amber says while eating Ben and Jerry’s in her Nevils, “That’s just the kind of person I am. I don’t care if it’s a club, a sport or a class, I’m always ready to put in minimal effort to give my classmates the opportunity to step up.”

It is common to find Amber in Red Square on her way home from class or by the GUSA office if she’s taken a wrong turn in Leavey, but otherwise, you’ll pretty much only spot her at her off-campus job, in her apartment, or at Tombs on Trivia Night, enjoying her life while graciously leaving thousands of existing leadership positions (not to mention thousands more on clubs she could potentially start) available for other ambitious Hoyas and freshmen.

Amer selflessly spends her summers not competing with other Hoyas for competitive banking and consulting internships nor does she try to block any other her classmates from alleviate any of the suffering in the world.

“I don’t need to have my profile picture taken in the third world to know that I’m making a difference.”

In addition to not being involved in campus organizations, Amber is also expresses her Georgetown spirit by not going to Leo’s and leaving more food, chairs, and tableware, for other students, as well as not attending her resident hall meeting so as not to rob her resident hall mates of the RA’s cookies.
