Sharing space can be tricky sometimes—especially when your roommate needs the room for a romantic rendezvous. It’s the right thing to do to give your roommate the space she needs, but sometimes it can be hard to fill the time. Here are some suggestions for fun activities that will make this inconvenience fly by.
Do some homework.
This is a great time to get some studying done—settle in, make some flashcards, and maybe get that Chinese speech memorized. Plus, with three people in the room, if you have a question one of you is bound to know the answer! And since you have two desks, your roommate shouldn’t have an issue getting bent over the other one while you hit the books.
Catch up on chores.
Getting put in this awkward position is just the push you needed to do all your least favorite domestic tasks. Take advantage of your roommate being in an awkward position of her own, plug in your vacuum, and go to town! While the vacuum could interrupt the Trey Songz playlist that your roommate’s boyfriend swears is sexy, it will still keep you from hearing anything too unsavory.
Check in with family.
When all else fails, remember that your family always wants to talk! This is the perfect time to facetime your grandmother, dog, or the whole gang all together. Give her a tour of the room, and fill her in on all the new and exciting things going on in your life. If a stray leg gets into the frame, don’t worry, she probably wanted to meet your friends anyways! If calling your father, we recommend headphones to avoid any mix up with all the Daddy’s flying around.
Join in the fun!
Sometimes it’s hard to take that first step, and you might feel like your roommate is pushing you away when she texts you “Chad is coming over” for the third time this week. It’s much more likely that she just doesn’t know how to reach out! Cut through all this awkwardness by just jumping right into bed with them. It takes a little courage to make that first move, but the resulting bond between the three of you will make it all worth it.
