Rosenberger’s Men’s Warehouse Blazer Counting The Seconds Until Executive Debate

By

BURLEITH –  As the Healy bells tolled 6 am over a sleepy campus this Thursday morning, one member of the MW40_1693_CALVIN_KLEIN_SPORT_COATS_VESTS_NAVY_SOLID_MAINGeorgetown community awoke with a start.

“Only four more days until debate,” whispered Rosenberger’s Navy Slim Fit blazer from Men’s Warehouse, its miniscule fibers quivering with nervous energy. “Only four more days until I get to show ‘em who’s boss.”

The blazer has yet to make its public debut, but that hasn’t stopped Hoyas from speculating about its every detail. Men’s fashion choices are the lynchpin to a successful GUSA campaign, and candidates on the Hilltop have been known to spend weeks picking out a blazer that is appropriate and professional.

“One candidate came to my door last year in boat shoes and a Welcome Back Jack t-shirt. I was like, ew, are you a peasant?” said Fiona Salgado (COL ’16). “I expect my GUSA President’s outfit to be runway worthy.”

Salgado said she and her friends will be choosing who to vote for in the upcoming election by assessing the color, thread count, and silhouette of each ticket’s blazer.

It’s a big job for one simple jacket, but Rosenberger’s Tommy Hilfiger sport coat is up for the challenge. It’s been confidently awaiting GUSA election week since its fateful departure from the Cleveland Mall.

“Rosenberger didn’t confirm that we were running for GUSA until the end of last semester, but I never doubted our destiny,” said the blazer. “The outfit makes the man… and I popped out of the factory knowing I could be that outfit.”

The blazer comes from a long line of sport coat elites. Its father, Velvet Modern Fit, was donned by Ron Jeremy at a recent Bar Mitzvah. Its twin, (also called Navy Slim Fit, for Men’s Warehouse inventory purposes), appears in several match.com commercials.

“Hilfiger is a label you can trust – I think history has made that clear,” said the coat. “I’m Rosenberger’s blazer. I’m Georgetown’s blazer.”

The privileged background of Navy Silm Fit has been the subject of substantial criticism to Rosenberger’s campaign, which has tried to focus on the sport coat’s practical yet sexy vibe, rather than its old money ties.

“The Hilfiger collection of sport coats are a fashion dynasty, and I think that should give some Hoyas pause,” said Marty Henderson, Men’s Warehouse employee. “Would you really feel comfortable if your GUSA president’s right-hand blazer had a close relationship with the sport coat in Dr. Oz’s headshot? Didn’t think so.”

However, the blazer maintains that its familial connections make it the right coat for the job.

“Hilfigers are classic, ubiquitous, and powerful. But we’re also independent. Just look at Shia LaBeouf’s herringbone Hilfiger number… it’s a wildcard,” said the blazer. “I won’t be controlled by my label either. This isn’t the Hilfiger’s campaign – it’s mine.”
