Area Sophomore Selflessly Risks Water Damage to His iPhone to Post Witty Tweet About Weather

VILLAGE A — Braving an exposed position in the downpour on Wednesday afternoon, sophomore Tanner Towes (SFS ’17) announced that he was successfully able showcase his unceasing wit in spite of potentially technologically-deadly conditions. nowhereelse-iphone-6-concept-gold-1131x753

Risking permanently damaging his two-week old $599 iPhone 6, Towes reported delivering the 83 character message to his 59 twitter followers after reconnecting to Saxanet.

After a forty-five second struggle to correctly use the digital keyboard under the potentially damaging rainstorm, the tweet “Lol glad Im wearing my boat shoes today because I am going to need a boat #rain” went online at 12:28 pm.

Towes reported that the idea came to him as he was walking from Yates to ICC.

Although he was unable to find any immediate respite from the torrential downpour to access the social media site, a patch of light on horizon hinted that his tweet might not be topical in the near future and needed to be posted immediately.

“At a certain point you just have to stop thinking and just start tweeting,” said Towes. “When you’re tweeting something like this you just have to trust that everything is going to take care of itself.”

Despite the chance that his phone’s hard dive could be permanently damaged by the thunderstorm, Towes said that he felt as though on that pathway “some higher social media power” had guided him and kept his phone safe during this time.

“We’re all put on this Earth and our phones assembled in China for a reason.”

At press time Towes reported that his tweet had one favorite, though his twitter account is private so the Heckler is unable to verify this claim.

“I didn’t do this for me, I did it for all my followers and anyone else who might see it if it were retweeted,” said Towes.
