CAR BARN — The Office of International Programs announced last Monday that its newest study abroad program will be in Henle Village.
“I’m really excited about this opportunity,” commented Daisy Redwood (COL ’17). “I looked at all of the other options for study abroad and none of them really appealed to me. Henle seems to really strike a nice balance: isolated and foreign, yet, in some way close to home.”
The University noted that the program will be offered primarily for “students who really need to break the Georgetown bubble.”
Prospective students can look forward to a full course load in the University’s building, St. Mary’s, located in the vicinity of Henle. University officials were quick to talk up the grounds of Henle and St. Mary’s as being “like a third Villa.”
The University has attempted to make the program as accessible as possible in its first year.
“The Henle program will not require proficiency in a language,” said a representative from the Office of International Programs.
“We know the program is new, but we’re still expecting a lot of competition for it in the upcoming semester,” reported Jane Daves, administrator in the Office of Global Education. “The program offers a unique perspective for students to really immerse themselves in the distinctive culture of this area of the Georgetown neighborhood.”
The University has made the program available to some 200 plus students and reports that “every bed will be filled.”
At press time the University was in talks to end the Burleith study abroad program at the request of the locals.
