A Sexually Repressed Student Reviews Each Campaign Logo

By

At The Heckler we realize how important the graphic designs of each campaign can be in influencing the perception of the various tickets amongst the student body, especially with such a large group of undecided and uninformed voters. While each ticket’s graphic design team had a specific feeling they attempted to capture in the logo, it is important to explore how such branding appeals to different demographics. A group too often silent on political matters, we have asked a representative from the sexual repressed community at Georgetown to weigh in on this year’s logos.  To maintain the integrity of the opinions, we have left the body of this article as verbatim testimony. We simply showed the various images and asked the question “what does this logo say to you about the candidates and how they’ll do in office?”

Sara & Ryan

“This makes me uncomfortable. This particular selection of colors means something but I can’t seem to place it. It seems to represent some unexpressed desiring, a sort of burning from within that could be indicative of a level of rage or primal aching.”

Chris & Meredith

“I like this. Dignity. That resonates with me. I have dignity. Sure I might have some bad thoughts sometimes but I always keep my dignity. It doesn’t matter how tight the leggings are of that girl in my Econ recitation are, I am a dignified individual above seedy impulses. No matter how tight that black spandex hugs her supple curves I don’t let it get to me. Her captivating femininity just yearns… yearns for… Right,  dignity.

Tim & Reno

For the love of Georgetown? Oh that is good. Love is good. Love is the purest human pursuit. When you love someone you care about them above all. You become one with them emotionally. One with them physically. That would be amazing. Can you imagine that? Being physically one with someone? Finally being to just tap into your inner most desires and just… just, love someone with your whole body. God, getting that throbbing love out there would just feel so good. I like this logo.”

Joe & Connor

“I can immediately tell that this campaign is the one with the most audacious candidates. The usage of two such large, swollen, and perfectly symmetrical structures to frame the rigid and full Healy Tower has such an impact and says to me that this ticket has a bold and daring platform.”

Abbey & Will

“I immediately have worries that this ticket wont be able to get their…platform… off the ground. That’s a lot of pressure to perform. It happens to everyone, maybe you are just too stressed to focus or have had too many drinks, but I just don’t think they’ll be able to satisfy the [student] body and certainly won’t finish, uh, their, uh, various campaign plans.”
