Midterms Over, Georgetown Students Leave for Thanksgiving Break

By

Reagan National Airport- With October midterm season now wrapping up, all of Georgetown’s student body are leaving for Thanksgiving break, a solid month before Thanksgiving. Reagan National Airport is now jammed with Hoyas beating the holiday travel rush by approximately 3 ½ weeks.

Junior Tara Li said she’s leaving early because she’s learned from past mistakes: “When I was a freshman I stayed until my last classes actually ended which was Wednesday afternoon, and the airport’s a mess so it’s just nice to leave earlier and not have to deal with that.” When pushed why she then decided to leave approximately 29 days earlier than that, instead of, say, that Tuesday she responded, “I thought well if I’m going to skip Wednesday and Tuesday’s classes are cancelled then I could just leave Monday, and if I could leave Monday I could leave Friday and if I could leave Friday then I could just  leave three weeks before that.

The absence of thousands of students from Georgetown’s campus has not taken the toll one would think on the professors. Prof. Howard Restin of the Theology department was asked whether it bothered him that there would be no one in his Jesus and the Gospels class for the whole month of November. He replied, “Do I still have tenure? In that case, I don’t give a flying fuck.”

On a more optimistic note, there is now no line at Leo’s for Pasta or Stir Fry.
