LEO’S — Freshman Ethan White (MSB ’18) reportedly scored “major points” with fellow first year Tina Cohen (NHS, ’18) on Tuesday night, after he told her that the empty chair at his Leo’s table was “all her’s” to take.
White, sitting with two friends, was describing a “sweet care package” he had just received from his aunt, when Cohen interjected, asking if one of the four empty seats at their table was available. White reportedly handled the situation coolly, telling her the seat was “all her’s,” to which she responded, “thanks.” The exchange, clocked at three seconds, has sent shockwaves across White’s inner-circle.
“So you’re telling me he actually spoke to her, like real words?” inquired roommate David Lafferty (COL, ‘18). “Excuse my surprise, but we’re talking about a kid who once asked a girl at Brown House if she wanted to ‘get active’ on the dance floor. So, yeah, this was unexpected.”
“The one time I decide to wait for a fucking omelet, this kid is chatting up Tina Cohen,” said friend Teddy Yarwood (SFS, ‘17). “I’m a sophomore, and there are literally no hot girls in my grade, so I’ve definitely had my eye on her. Good for Ethan though. An event like this usually leads to a steady hook up.”
In White’s view, the successful encounter with Cohen was a product of weeks of hard work.
“For me, it’s really all a blur at this point,” White said. “Tina is a legend, we know this, so for us to connect the way we did is really huge for me. I spend a little part of my dinner each day forcing eye contact with her then quickly looking away, so that probably got her attention.”
White’s family reacted differently to the news, expressing both pride and concern after hearing of Ethan’s exploits.
“As a parent, my emotions are all over the place right now,” said White’s mother Francine. “I don’t want to see Ethan grow up too fast. When the girls are actually speaking to your son, you start thinking big picture. I’m not ready to be a grandparent, you know?”
“I raised my son to be courteous and that was what was on display in those three seconds,” said White’s father Gregory. “That being said, Ethan assures me that this girl is ‘straight fire,’ which I am told is something I should be proud of.
Moving forward, White views the event as a stepping-stone for a more meaningful relationship with Cohen.
“You could call it ‘love at first bite,’” White said. “Cause it’s Leo’s. Yeah, that works.”
At press time, Ms. Cohen could not be reached for comment, though reports indicate that she was on Lau 4 discussing the men’s lacrosse team with “a lot of other hot girls.”
