JTIII “Confident” of Meeting Hoya Fans’ Exceedingly Low Expectations in 2015

IAC CONSTRUCTION SITE – As the 2014-15 season kicks into high gear for the Hoyas Men’s Basketball team, questions about their ability to meet fan’s ever diminishing expectations are coming into focus.

President DeGioia maintains that Head Coach John Thompson III’s job is secure this season, and expressed his confidence in JT III at a recent press conference.

“I think Coach Thompson has done an excellent job over the last few seasons at setting fan’s expectations at an impressively low level which he should have no trouble exceeding this year,” praised President John DeGioia. “Being ranked below George Washington last year shows his immeasurable prowess in making anything this year look better by comparison.”

Any memories of being in the Final Four are "thankfully" in the rear view mirror said Thompson.

JT III himself made it clear that he knows this will be a “pivotal year” in restoring credibility in his coaching abilities.

“This is a storied program with a lot of history and I think I’ve done a good job erasing that from people’s memories and setting the bar really low for myself and this team,” remarked Thompson. “The fan base expects solid improvement every year, and after flaming out of the NCAA tournament for a half dozen years we’re in a great position to do that this year.”

Thompson credited the new Big East realignment as being “immensely helpful” in giving the Hoyas an opportunity to ride any conference success into postseason disappointment.

“I can’t take all the credit for creating a nose dive in expectations,” said Thompson. “Our administration has worked tirelessly to put us in a softer conference.”

“The New Big East conference has done a great job in lowering the overall quality of the basketball teams we’re going to face this year during the regular season,” explained Athletic Director Lee Reed. “As a result, our consistent mediocrity and underperformance is going to take us much further.”

JT III’s efforts have not gone overlooked throughout the rest of the Athletic Department as well.

“I really appreciate what JT III has done to take some heat off our program,” commented Georgetown Football Head Coach Rob Sgarlata. “Sure we’ve only won a couple games this year, but we’re not consistently embarrassing on any kind of a national level.”
