Win Over St. John’s Gives Georgetown Hoops Outside Chance at Just Missing Tournament

NEW YORK- After a thrilling 89-78 victory over St. John’s this past Sunday, the Georgetown Men’s Basketball team is looking more and more like a squad that could possibly be one of the teams that narrowly misses a slot in the NCAA Tournament.

“I really like how our guys are playing right now” coach Pat Ewing said after the win. “If we keep playing this way for the rest of the season, we’ll put ourselves in a great position to not quite make the tournament.”

Star freshman Mac McClung, who scored 25 points in the victory, says this team is just getting started: “We’re going to enjoy this win tonight, but we know that there’s a lot of work to be done if we want to be one of the squads that watches the tournament from home.”

“It was a really fun game to watch, and I’m glad we got the win,” said Paul Burns (COL ‘21) of Hoya Blue. “Right now I think we have a great shot at being on the outside looking in by the end of the season.”

Win Over St. John’s Gives Georgetown Hoops Outside Chance at Just Missing TournamentGeorgetown currently sports a 13-7 overall record with a 3-4 mark in Big East play, but is not listed as one of the teams that is nearly good enough to compete in the tournament on the ESPN website. We here at the Heckler are rooting for our boys to rack up a few more wins and a couple of losses so we can say we came up just short of playing for the game’s ultimate prize come the end of the season, and play in the NIT instead.
