Oscars Controversy: No One Thanked Actor Haley Joel Osment in Their Acceptance Speech and He Noticed

By

When Haley Joel Osment delivered the performance of a lifetime in the 1999 classic,The Sixth Sense, he rightfully assumed that people would be sufficiently impressed to actually show some gratitude for his work 19 years into the future. Disgracefully, that is not so. During the Oscars on Sunday, not a single person thanked Osment for his stunning performance. No, not even Alfonso Cuarón, the director of Roma. It seems everyone was too wrapped up in their inflated egos.

“It’s a damn shame,” explained Hannah Montana star and sister of Haley Joel, Emily Osment. “My brother put his heart and soul into that film and to see everyone completely ignore his work really makes me concerned for the current state of our industry.”

Heartbreak could have been avoided though if Haley Joel’s friends had been able to somehow keep him from noticing this tragic affront on the night in question. “We tried everything to pull him away from that terrible show,” described a close friend of Haley Joel who has asked to remain anonymous. “but he just stayed two feet in front of the TV the whole night saying, ‘this next person will thank me for sure’ every time someone came to accept their Oscar.”
