Lauinger to Add Laserium to Second Floor, Make Studying Even More Distracting

By

LAUINGER—Head of Georgetown University Library Kathleen Stevens has announced a new addition—a laserium—to the university’s Lauinger Library. The laserium will be placed in Lauinger Floor 2, or “Lau 2” as it is colloquially known, and will be in non-stop operation after its installment.

According to Stevens, the University was looking for a place to put “a sweet light show” that wouldn’t distract students.

“We just saw it as the next logical step,” said Stevens. “I don’t know too many people who dislike laser shows and we’re always looking at the next-best thing when it comes to our libraries.”

The reaction from students was mostly positive.

“I don’t see this affecting my productivity at all. I think the students would love to have this in the second floor of the library,” said George Logan (COL ’17), “but it might be harder for me to check Facebook.”

“If anything this will probably make the line longer,” said Midnight MUG employee Ashley Merchant (SFS ’15). “I know my co-workers and I will just want to watch the show.”

Based on feedback thus far, it seems that the laserium addition is here to stay.
