Psy Costume Somehow Less Relevant Third Year in a Row

By

PROSPECT STREET —  Sophomore Jonah Andrews reported this Sunday that dressing up for Halloween as South Korean pop star Psy for the third year in a row did not earn him the respect and admiration that it had the past two years.

Andrews first dressed as Psy in 2012, after the release of the hit music video “Gangnam Style,” and again in 2013 following the release of “Gentleman.”

Instances of Psy costumes were down 97% nationally this year.

“I first chose to be Psy for Halloween because I knew that he was going to stick around for a while. Now that he has established himself as more than a one hit wonder, I assumed my costume would become, if anything, more relevant.”

He describes Psy’s new EP, “Psy 6 (Six Rules) Part 2,” as a much more emotionally charged album than the last. “Psy explores a lot of deep, existential questions. When Snoop Dogg sings in the hit new single ‘Hangover’ it really makes you reconsider what it is to truly live and love.”

Andrews went out this Halloween in a light blue suit, black bowtie, and aviator sunglasses. In the past, this very same outfit was greeted with understanding nods and even smiles of recognition.

This Halloween, however, his costume was met with less enthusiasm.

“A lot of people didn’t even know that Psy released a new album’” said Andrews in an exclusive interview, “Most people just thought I was Kim Jong Un.”

At press time, Andrews was considering dressing up as the band that sang “What Does the Fox Say” next year.
