The soulful voice of Otis Redding is an American cultural treasure. Millions of people have found comfort and tranquility in his sultry singing. However, it has recently come to the attention of the vigilant Heckler Culture & Music staff that the classic tune, (Sittin’ On) the Dock of the Bay, is nothing but a censored cover-up.
Record executives are notorious for quieting artists’ true voices, and using their artists to spread their own nefarious personal agenda. In this instance, the executives at Stax Records were trying to push an image of peaceful maritime relaxation. This of course came in conflict with Redding’s very gross and horny message.
Unsurprisingly, the executives were able to silence the truth. But not forever! A remarkable 52 years after the original release, Redding’s true message of innovative intimacy was finally leaked by an anonymous benevolent hacker.
“You won’t believe what else Stax is hiding!” The hacker said, “Let me just say, Try a Little Tenderness, isn’t about what you think!”
