From the Vault: (410 AD, 2003) Op Ed: Can These Damn Goths Leave Us Alone?

By

A few years ago I couldn’t have picked one out of a crowd, But now? They’re everywhere! They’ve infiltrated every part of civilized life and it seems like we’re helpless to stop them. What happened to our once great civilization? How have we succumbed to this utterly confusing bunch of low-lifes? I thought us much, much better.

Now I’m not the kind to call out another group of people for the way they present themselves. But if I were, I would start with the way they dress. What’s with all the chain mail? And the facepaint? The whole get up is downright confusing. Maybe put on some real clothes for God’s (Yes, that’s right. God. You heard of Him? Because He’s heard of you.) sake. How do you expect anyone to take you seriously?
And if I had to choose a second, it would be the attitude. What? You’re so oppressed by, if you can believe it, us? You mean we normal people — upholders of everything good and right about a society — are oppressing you? Don’t make me laugh. Don’t sit there acting so misunderstood. We know what it’s like to be (a) young people. We all had to get through it. So why don’t you just grow up and be like everybody else.
