In Solidarity with Joe Rogan, Chimes To Add More Music to Spotify

By

Unprincipled Georgetown music lovers, rejoice!

In protest of Joe Rogan’s COVID-19 misinformation and racism, luminaries like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell have recently removed their discographies from Spotify. But not to worry, the Georgetown Chimes say. They plan to release more original music on the streaming platform in solidarity with Rogan.

“Rogan provides a real light in the darkness of today’s media landscape.” said Chimes co-president Thad Lillington (MSB ’22). “We were horrified to learn that so many other artists don’t agree. Since we haven’t released anything on Spotify since 2016, we hope that our original covers and parodies will drive traffic to the platform and remind people why they love Spotify and Joe Rogan in the first place.”

Lillington gave this reporter a preview of the group’s upcoming releases. Chimes fans should be on the lookout for a new album containing twelve obscure Celtic war ballads, poor renditions of several African-American spirituals, and a parody of Silk Sonic’s “Smokin’ Out the Window” that disparages “MSBitches.”

When he heard of this bastion of support, Joe Rogan reportedly said “264 monthly listeners? Why should I give a fuck what they think of me?”
